CATEGORIES
Universal wafer cam locks are among the most popular in all areas. The nickel-plated brass key moves the central 5-plate-cylinder rotor placed inside a zinc alloy box called a stator, bushing or body. The diameter is milled on two opposing sides (side plates) forming a double D to prevent rotation of the cam lock in the installation seat. The cam rotation determines the locking or the unlocking.
Body and barrel are made of zinc alloy, while the cam is made of steel. The 7-mm square terminal also allows the installation of a variety of straight, cranked and hook cams, as well as multi-point cams for handling translating rods (up/down). Diameter 18 characterizes such a product in which the key can be pulled out in both open and closed positions. The fully threaded body allows nut fastening.
The 18 mm diameter universal cam lock is the competitive alternative to the pin tumbler “letterbox lock”, which is the letterbox lock also known by the brand name “Michel” and applied on Seat mailboxes. Due to its small body size, it is also used on glass doors of bulletin boards and display cases.
