Cross key locks

OMR pin locks, also known as “invisible locks,” are compact and discreet locking solutions designed to combine security and aesthetics in settings where space is at a premium or where the visual appearance of the item is a priority. Their distinguishing feature is the pin tumbler cruciform cylinder that minimizes the thickness of the lock body, which can be installed in the mullions of window frames, vertices, etc. The key, with its tapered, pointed shape, resembles a nail – hence the nickname “nail key.”The key entry hole is so small and unobtrusive (a few millimeters) that many times it is not really noticed. A feature that is not just aesthetic: the difficulty of locating the lock is in itself a real advantage in terms of security.
Why choose OMR pin locks:

Minimal footprint: compact cylinder ideal for narrow 18 mm profiles, available in mortise and stick-on variants
Burglar-proof security: pin tumbler mechanism with precise alignment, resistant to picking and forcing, with some versions certified grade 3 according to European Standard EN 12209
Total versatility: available with simple, swinging or hooked deadbolts for sashes, doors, shutters, light dampers, inspection hatches and iron and aluminum profiles
Clean aesthetics: nearly invisible keyhole and chrome finish to blend in without altering the design of showcases, technical furniture and displays
Flexible encryption: interchangeable core for single encryption (KA) or master key (KD), ideal for professional key management

Perfect for retail, technical offices, trade shows, light construction and contract furniture. Choose OMR’s Made in Italy quality to protect your spaces in style.

FOCUS

OMR's range of pin locks offers five variants to meet very different installation needs. This guide will help you navigate the available models and identify the one best suited to your application.

How to choose the right pin lock

OMR pin locks are available in different configurations to suit profiles, doors, and technical furniture. To identify the most suitable model, it is useful to evaluate three main parameters: type of installation, locking system and key management.

Type of installation: slip-in or stick-on

The first choice is how to mount it on the door.
Mortise - The lock is housed inside the profile or mullion, ensuring a fully integrated solution with no protrusions. It is the ideal choice for iron or aluminum profiles and for sashes with limited available space, where aesthetics and compactness are priorities.
To apply - The lock is attached directly to the door surface using screws, with quick installation and no special machining on the profile. It is the most versatile solution, suitable for technical furniture, doors and small metal cabinets.

Locking system: deadbolt, rocker or hook

The second parameter to be evaluated is the type of retaining element.
Linear Dead bolt - Compact and reliable solution for technical sashes and doors. The deadbolt slides horizontally and engages in the mullion or rail, providing solid locking with minimal footprint.
Tilting deadbolt - Provides stable locking and greater resistance to lateral forces. Vertical movement makes it suitable for doors subject to vibration or technical access that require a stronger restraint.
Hook and loop deadbolt - Designed for sliding doors and sashes. Hook profile allows secure attachment even when there is play or misalignment of the door.

Dimensions of the profile

OMR pin locks are distinguished by their extremely small footprint. Thanks to the compact cruciform cylinder, they can be installed on posts from about 18 mm, while maintaining the typical almost invisible keyhole that characterizes the clean aesthetics of this product family.

Key Management

OMR pin locks are available with different keying options to meet the needs of simple or articulated installations.
Keyed Alike - All locks in the system work with the same key: a practical solution for homogeneous installations with a single user or manager.
Keyed Different - Each lock has a unique key: ideal for managing differentiated access in contract, trade show or multi-user settings.

FAQ

Are OMR cross key locks safe?

Yes, for the applications for which they are intended. The cruciform pin tumbler cylinder, combined with the unique cruciform shape of the key, provides a good level of security against manipulation attempts. Added to this is an inherent advantage: the very small key hole makes the lock difficult to detect, reducing the risk even before an attacker can attempt to force it. This is an appropriate solution for technical doors, metal furniture, display cases and contract applications-not for armored doors or high-risk access.

What profile size is needed to install an OMR pin lock?

OMR pin locks are designed for small footprints and fit a wide variety of profiles. The minimum post thickness required ranges from 18 to 20 mm depending on the model, while compatible post widths range from 25 mm up to 71 mm. In all cases, the key hole is made with a simple drill bit. Consult the individual product sheet to check the exact dimensions compatible with your profile.

Can the key be taken out when open or closed?

Yes. OMR pin locks allow the key to be extracted in both positions-open and closed. The attachable version also allows the key to be used from both the inside and outside, making it particularly suitable for closets, storage rooms and technical compartments where you need to be able to operate from both sides. For specifications for each model, see the relevant product sheet.

How does the mechanism of OMR cross key locks work?

All OMR pin locks feature a cruciform cylinder set in a steel and zinc alloy body. When the key is inserted, the cross-arranged pins align allowing the cylinder to rotate and the deadbolt to operate. Depending on the model, the deadbolt can be linear, swinging, hook or double deadbolt-with projections ranging from 9 mm up to 43 mm.
