The espagnolette lock with rotating rods and an antique key allows multiple and centralized locking at three points through the movement of the rods and the side bolt. The special feature is in the movement of the rods which is not by translation (up/down), but by rotation ensuring greater strength and slight compression of the door when closing. Hooks are mounted on the rod ends, which rotate and attach to the pins fixed in the crossbeams of the cabinet. The lock structure is made of zinc alloy, and has an internal cams mechanism. Numerous accessories complete the lock: half-round rods, upper and lower hooks, adjustable pins, U-bolts, rod guides, rosettes. This rim lock with rotating rods and old key is commonly used in antique furniture, classic or arte povera style furniture. Curiosity! The rotating movement of the hooks is reminiscent of the typical hand gesture of flamenco dancers, called braceo, from which the nickname “espagnolette” was later derived.
