Electric contact locks
OMR electric contact locks are mechanical devices with an auxiliary function for activating or interrupting electrical circuits. Ideal for control panels, operator panels, HMI systems and industrial control devices, they provide secure interaction between physical access and electrical actuators. Made of die-cast metal with chrome, stainless steel or nickel-plated finishes, they offer unified (KA) or differentiated (KD) ciphers, with plate-cylinder or pin tumbler mechanisms. Activation is by reversible tubular or flat keys, with extraction positions only when the lock is closed, ensuring precise control of access and electrical operation.
Electrically contacted locks are special types of locks that, although they have a completely mechanical operation, thus related to the canonical use of a key, are closely related to the use of electricity.
Electric contact locks are often confused with electric locks: the name is actually very similar, but technically and functionally they are very different items.
Electric locks in the strict sense are able to open thanks to an electronic combination (to be provided via PIN, Bluetooth or other digital solutions), so they are models that work without any use of keys, while electric contact locks are, as mentioned above, traditional key locks that do, however, allow an electric switch to be activated.
In practice, therefore, using these products, the action of turning the key is not related to carrying out the opening and locking of a door, door, or anything else, but rather to the turning on or off of a technological device or control circuit.
In fact, the main applications of these locks include electrical panels, alarm systems, on-board operator panels, HMI systems, and shutter selectors.
The ones mentioned are just a few examples: the technological devices that can be activated and operated with a key are really many, and in these applications electrically contacted locks always take center stage.
OMR Locks offers an extremely varied range of electric contact locks, models destined to prove ideal for a wide variety of needs and customizable in endless ways.

FAQ
What is the main function of electric contact locks?
Electric contact locks combine the mechanical locking function with the activation or deactivation of an electrical circuit. They are ideal for industrial applications where it is necessary to control power or operational consent via a physical key.
What type of key is recommended for added security?
For added security, we recommend the use of reversible flat keys or tubular keys, both available in the OMR range. They offer complex encryption and greater resistance to unauthorized manipulation.
How is the fixing of electric contact locks done?
Fastening is by nut, a reliable solution compatible with metal panels of technical cabinets and industrial containers. It ensures stability even in environments subject to vibration or mechanical stress.
