Espagnolette lock, antique key
The espagnolette lock with antique key or lever lock key, is a central locking 3-point lock featuring rods and a bolt. The peculiarity of espagnolette locks is that the rods motion is not translatory but rotary thus ensuring higher resistance and door compression in the locked position. The hooks installed on the rod’s ends rotate to engage the upper and lower anchor plates. This rotary movement reminds of “braceo”, the traditional hand and wrist movement of flamenco dancers, called “braceo”. That is the reason why these locks are called “espagnolette locks”.
The whole lock body is made of die-cast zinc alloy. The inner mechanism is a lever system. Several accessories to complete the installation are available: half-round rods, upper and lower hooks, adjustable pegs, rod guides and rosettes.
The espagnolette lock with lever lock key is commonly used on antique furniture.
